Mobile Welding in Delaware & Eastern Maryland

Some things just don't fit on a trailer, and some jobs can't wait for one. That's what the truck is for. RickTheWelder brings a fully set-up welding rig to your jobsite, farm, yard, loading dock or parking lot, so the repair happens where the broken part already is. We cover all of New Castle County and Kent County, Delaware, plus Eastern Maryland, from our base in Townsend.

What the Rig Brings

The truck carries an engine-driven welder, a plasma cutter, grinders, torches and a rack full of stock, so most jobs are finished in one visit instead of turning into a parts run. On site we handle:

  • MIG, TIG and stick welding

  • Steel, stainless and aluminum

  • Plasma and torch cutting

  • Drilling, fitting and small fabrication right at the job

  • Reinforcement plates and brackets made to fit what's in front of us

Jobs We Do on Site

  • Commercial trucks and truck bodies, including DOT repairs

  • Trailers of all kinds: frames, tongues, crossmembers, decks and ramps (more on our Trailer Repair page)

  • Excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklifts and tractors (see Heavy Equipment Repair)

  • Gates, fences and railings that can't come off their posts (see Gates, Fences & Railings)

  • Plant and industrial equipment during a shutdown

  • Docks, boats and barges (see Marine Welding)

Real Jobs From the Road

A few recent call-outs, straight from our gallery: an on-site aluminum repair of stage trussing at Firefly in Dover, DOT repairs on a commercial truck, forklift damage repaired on a truck bed in Wilmington, a factory mistake fixed on EV charger pedestals in New Castle, shutdown repairs at an asphalt plant, and sections of underground steel casement pipe welded up in Milford. Different jobs, same idea: show up ready, fix it right, and get you rolling again.

Why It's Worth It

Hauling a broken machine or truck to a shop costs a day, a trailer, a driver and sometimes a tow. Having the welder come to you usually costs less downtime than any of that. Rick is a certified welder, and a manufacturer chose him as its on-site repair specialist, so field repairs are his everyday work, not a side gig.

Hours

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Weekends by appointment.

Since we often work on site, please call to confirm a drop-off time before coming by.

How to Book

Call or text (302) 532-6240 or email rick@rickthewelder.com. A couple of photos of the damage and the address help us show up with the right gear. Smaller parts can always come to the shop at 1210 Dexter Corner Road, Townsend, DE 19734.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far do you travel?

All of New Castle County and Kent County, Delaware, and Eastern Maryland are our regular area.

Do I need power on site?

No. The rig runs its own engine-driven welder, so a parking lot or an open field works fine.

Can you weld aluminum and stainless in the field?

Yes. Aluminum, stainless and steel are all everyday work for the mobile rig.

Got something broken that won't come to us? We'll come to it. Call (302) 532-6240.
