Marine & Mobile Welding in Galena, Maryland

Galena is one of the closest Maryland towns to our shop: about 14 miles, or roughly 25 minutes, west of Townsend across the state line. It's a small crossroads town in northern Kent County, Maryland, right where Route 213 meets Route 290, and it's surrounded by farms and the marinas on the Sassafras River.

The Sassafras, the Farms and the Crossroads

Boats and marinas on the Sassafras River

Just north of town, Georgetown's marinas on the Sassafras River keep a lot of boats in the water. We weld aluminum and steel boat parts, boat trailers, dock railings and ladders, in the water or in the yard.

See Marine Welding.

Farms on Route 213 and Route 290

The fields around Galena are working farmland. We repair hitches, drawbars, implement frames, loader buckets and farm gates on the farm with the mobile rig.

See Farm Equipment Repair.

Trailers and trucks

Boat trailers, utility trailers and farm trailers all come through the Galena crossroads. We fix tongues, frames, bunks, axle mounts and hitches.

Galena is close enough that smaller parts are easy to bring to the shop in Townsend. For anything that can't move, like a boat on the lift or equipment in the field, the mobile rig comes to you.

Galena was founded in 1763 as Down's Cross Roads, became Georgetown Cross Roads, and took the name Galena in 1858. The name comes from galena, the lead ore that silver is extracted from, after a supposed silver mine nearby. There's no real evidence the mine ever existed, but we like a town named after a metal. These days Galena is known for its antique shops and the Sassafras River is just up Route 213.
