Your Hometown Welder in Townsend, Delaware

Townsend is home. Our welding shop is just outside town, so for Townsend customers we're a couple of minutes away, not a long drive. Bring a cracked hitch or a broken bracket by the shop, or call and the mobile rig will be in your driveway, barn or lot the same way it goes to every other town we serve.

A Small Town That's Grown Fast

New neighborhoods around town

Townsend has grown a lot since 2000, and the newer homes are starting to need the same things every neighborhood does: porch and stair railings fixed at the posts, driveway gates that drag, fire pits and trailer hitches. We fix them in place or build new ones to match.

Farms on the roads out of town

The fields and barns around Townsend still keep plenty of equipment working. Hitches, drawbars, implement frames, loader brackets and farm gates are regular work, and the shop is close enough that a lot of it can just be dropped off.

Trailers, trucks and work rigs

Contractors and landscapers who live in Townsend run their trailers hard on Route 71, Route 13 and Route 1. Cracked tongues, broken ramp gates, rusted crossmembers and truck bed repairs are some of our most common jobs.

Because the shop is so close, most Townsend jobs start with a photo. Text Rick a close-up and a wider shot, and he'll tell you whether to bring it by or have the mobile rig come to you.

Townsend started as a crossroads called Charley Town and was renamed for Samuel Townsend. It was incorporated in 1885, and after the Delaware Railroad arrived in 1856, the station became the main shipping point for the area's farm products, with peaches a big part of that business until disease hit the Delmarva orchards in the late 1800s. The old part of town is the Townsend Historic District, with more than 200 historic buildings listed on the National Register in 1986. Trains still run through: Townsend is the junction of the Delmarva Central Railroad and the Maryland & Delaware Railroad's Northern Line. We like to say our shop sits in the middle of everything, and it's literally true: Townsend has been listed as Delaware's center of population.

Townsend Questions

Can I drop something off at the shop?

Yes. That's the quickest way for Townsend customers. Call or text (302) 532-6240 first so Rick is there, since he's often out on mobile jobs. He'll give you directions to the shop.

Do you still come out if I'm right here in town?

Yes. If it can't move, like a gate on its posts, a railing set in concrete or equipment that won't start, the mobile rig comes to you.

Is a small job worth your time?

Yes. A cracked hitch, a broken bracket or a single gate hinge is exactly the kind of job a local shop is for.
